Terms of Use
The terms on which Wellnetix Ltd makes Lantern available to you, including the honest limits of what Lantern is and is not.
About these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Wellnetix Ltd ("Wellnetix", "we", "us"), the UK company that makes Lantern. They govern your use of the Lantern app and this website. By using Lantern, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Lantern. They work together with our Privacy Policy and Consent notice.
Lantern is not a medical device
This matters, so we say it plainly:
- Lantern is an evidence companion. It helps you capture and organise your own words and named questionnaires, and share them with a clinician.
- Lantern does not diagnose, does not give a medical opinion, and does not tell you what anything means.
- Lantern is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of a qualified clinician with any questions about a medical condition.
- The digital check-in tasks are an early, experimental prototype. They are not a cleared or approved medical device, and their regulatory and licensing status is still open. They record neutral measurements for personal reflection and conversation with a clinician only — never a result, score, or verdict.
- Never rely on Lantern in an emergency. If you or someone you care for has sudden, severe, or frightening symptoms, contact your local emergency service. In the UK, call 999, or 111 for non-urgent NHS advice.
Who can use Lantern
Lantern is intended for adults aged 18 or over. By using Lantern you confirm you are 18 or older. If you use Lantern to support another person as a carer or family member, you agree to do so only with their knowledge and agreement, or where you are lawfully authorised to act for them.
Your account and your data
- An account is optional. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secure and for activity under your account.
- Your record belongs to you. You can export it (including in the FHIR format) and delete it at any time — in the app, or via a data-deletion request.
- How we handle your information is set out in the Privacy Policy.
Acceptable use
Please use Lantern lawfully and as intended. You agree not to:
- use Lantern for anything unlawful, or to store or share content you have no right to;
- capture or manage another person's information without their agreement or lawful authority;
- attempt to break, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to Lantern or its systems;
- rely on Lantern as a medical device, a diagnosis, or a source of clinical decisions; or
- misrepresent what Lantern is to others (for example presenting a measurement as a diagnosis).
Intellectual property
Lantern, including its name, design, content, and software, is owned by Wellnetix Ltd or its licensors and is protected by law. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Lantern for its intended purpose. The content you author remains yours — you grant us only the limited permissions needed to operate the app for you (for example, to store and sync your record on your instruction), as described in the Privacy Policy.
Availability and changes
Lantern is in active development. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend or discontinue parts of the service. We aim to give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can. We do not guarantee that Lantern will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lantern is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including as to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or that any measurement has clinical meaning. You are responsible for how you use, interpret, and act on what you record.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Subject to that, to the fullest extent permitted by law Wellnetix Ltd is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on Lantern as a medical device or diagnosis, for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data that you could have avoided by keeping your own copy (Lantern lets you export your record). These Terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Governing law
These Terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, save that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as Lantern develops. We will change the "last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice. Continuing to use Lantern after a change means you accept the updated Terms. This is a draft that will be finalised before launch.
