⚠ This is NOT an eye test. A phone cannot check your eyes validly. See a clinician for anything to do with your vision.

Experimental check-in task — not a cleared or approved medical device. This task is off by default and opt-in only. It records a neutral level-reached measurement for you to keep and share. It will never tell you your eyes are fine, and it never diagnoses. Only a clinician can assess your vision.

What this task looks at

This task presents original, own-authored shapes, patterns, and colour patches on screen at varying sizes, contrasts, and hue separations, and records which ones you could respond to. It is a demonstration task, not a sight test.

What you'll do

After an explicit warning and opt-in, you respond to shapes and patches as they appear. A persistent warning stays on screen throughout.

What it records

  • Level reached — the point in each ladder (size, contrast, or colour separation) you responded to, as an experimental measurement.

This is shown with the experimental label and the standing warning. It is a level-reached number only.

What it does not do

It does not give an acuity, contrast, or colour value. It does not say your vision is normal, fine, 20/20, healthy, or clear — it can't, so it never does. If a result looks concerning, Lantern points you to seek prompt clinical advice rather than reassuring you.

Not the same as

This is an original, own-authored task. It is not and is not equivalent to a Snellen chart, ETDRS acuity, or Sloan low-contrast letter acuity. This task does not reproduce them, and is not a substitute for an eye examination.

⚠ Not an eye test. Experimental, opt-in only, not a cleared or approved medical device. Records a neutral measurement only — no diagnosis, no interpretation, and never reassurance about your vision. See a clinician.

Each task records one kind of neutral measurement — for reflection and conversation with a clinician, never a diagnosis.
