Typing rhythm
You type a short prompt and the task records only the timing of your key presses — never the words themselves. A neutral measurement to keep and share, not a score or a result.
Experimental check-in task — not a cleared or approved medical device. This task records neutral measurements for you to keep and share. It does not score you, does not say what any number means, and does not diagnose. Only a clinician can interpret it.
What this task looks at
This task looks at typing rhythm — the timing of how you press and release keys on an on-screen keyboard. It records timing only.
What you'll do
You'll type a short, provided prompt on the on-screen keyboard. Only the timing of key presses is recorded.
What it records
Neutral timing measurements from your key presses:
- Hold time — how long, on average, a key is held down (in milliseconds, ms).
- Flight time — the average gap between releasing one key and pressing the next (in milliseconds, ms).
- Timing variability — how even or uneven that timing was.
Each is shown with its units and the method version used, plus a short note on what the task looked at.
A privacy note
Lantern records the timing of key presses only — never the content of what you type. The words you type in this task are not stored.
What it does not do
It does not tell you whether your typing is fast, slow, normal, or a sign of anything. It records timing numbers; your clinician interprets them.
Not the same as
This is an original, own-authored task. It is not and is not equivalent to neuroQWERTY / nQi or any licensed keystroke-dynamics metric. This task does not reproduce them.
Experimental. Not a cleared or approved medical device. Records neutral timing measurements only — no diagnosis, no interpretation, and never the content you type.

Each task records one kind of neutral measurement — for reflection and conversation with a clinician, never a diagnosis.
