Using a simple key, you match original symbols to digits for about 90 seconds; the task records how many you complete as a neutral measurement to keep and share, never a score or a result.

What this task looks at
This task looks at matching symbols to numbers — a small key pairs a set of original, own-authored symbols with digits, and you enter the matching digit for as many items as you can in the time.
What you'll do
For about 90 seconds, you enter the digit that matches each symbol using the on-screen key. A Stop button is always visible.
What it records
Neutral counts and rates:
- Correct count — how many items you matched correctly (a count).
- Rate — items completed per unit of time.
- Error rate — the proportion of items answered incorrectly.
Each is shown with its units and the method version used, plus a short note on what the task looked at. These are counts and rates only.
What it does not do
It does not tell you whether your processing is fast, slow, normal, or a sign of anything. It records counts; your clinician interprets them.
Not the same as
This is an original, own-authored task using original symbols. It is not and is not equivalent to the SDMT (Symbol Digit Modalities Test) or the DSST (Digit Symbol Substitution Test). Those are licensed instruments with their own symbol sets; this task does not reproduce them.
